Pastors Course 2012

The pastors of the ECCB are gathering this week for their annual Pastors Course organized by the organization of the pastors within the ECCB. They meet for the week of January 23-27 here in Prague at the Protestant Theological Faculty. This annual gathering provides an opportunity for clergy to gather for worship, continuing education, and fellowship. This year the theme for the gathering is “Money.” Although this may be considered a taboo subject by many it is increasingly important to reflect on the place of money in the life of the church. There is a variety of speakers and panels addressing this issue. “Money and Possessions in the Bible” was the first presentation by Professor Pavel Filipi. Other topics include “The Pressure of Money” “What is Money” in which the presenter discusses the function of money, “The Retirement of Pastors from the Congregation” “Social Distinctions in Communities from the Perspective of Pastors” “Statistical Data about the ECCB in Light of Property Restitution” and the week closes with a presentation entitled “Me and Money.” The week also included opening worship, daily devotions, and small group discussions. Presenters came from various organizations; the ECCB, the Protestant Theological Faculty, and the Diakonia.
